About us

We – that is Ilka Matthiessen and Katrin Beier. Together we founded the label Königin Mutter in August 2019.

We want to accompany women through pregnancy and the first year with the baby. For this purpose we offer patterns for self-sewing for expectant mothers, nursing mothers and babies. In our shop you will also find sustainable baby fashion and accessories made of ecotex fabrics. Ready-made maternity and nursing wear is in planning, as well as sewing courses for making baby outfits and sewing pregnancy and nursing clothes.

Ilka

I am Ilka, born in 1971 and mother of three daughters aged 20, 18 and 7, so I know a lot about comfortable and practical baby clothes and maternity wear. Since 2013 I am the owner of the pattern label erbsünde – since 2017 I run a small sewing workshop in Munich Giesing. That’s where Katrin and I got to know each other. Since then we have been working together with a lot of enthusiasm and passion on new sewing and pattern projects and give sewing courses for beginners and advanced students.

Katrin

I am Katrin, born in 1981 and mother of a very special boy. The little boy was born in 2015 and the reason why I started sewing again. He has been fully breastfed for 1 1/2 years and has been wearing almost exclusively self-sewn clothes from the beginning, so I know what is important when it comes to baby clothes and breastfeeding fashion. I love to be creative and always try something new. The more challenging the sewing project, the better. Together with Ilka, I make sure that our patterns are practical, comfortable and sustainable, and that our illustrated sewing instructions are described in sufficient detail to make them suitable even for sewing beginners.
